“God Says” was featured on Q-101’s Local Music internet spotlight and on UCLAradio.com. “I Will Not Apologize,” was used on Chicago’s finest rock station, WXRT (93.1) to kick off its Local Anesthetic Chicago Women in Rock feature on 7/15 and featured on WLTL–Lyons Township High School radio. WLTL has also spun the title track off the Coattails CD.
The Illinois Entertainer has this to say about Berg’s Coattails CD:
“Singer-songwriter Liz Berg’s rough-around-the-edges approach infiltrates her second album, Coattails, with a smattering of PJ Harvey-like vocals. The inherent spookiness of Polly Jean’s compositions are absent from this effort, but Berg makes do with her own brand of “I am woman, hear me roar” rock. “Silent” stands out as a Celtic-enhanced ditty.”–Janine Schault
Liz Berg is very honored to have been featured in the April 20, Weekend Plus of the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper. Music critic Jim DeRogatis named her Coattails CD one of his local favorites and went as far to say that her song, “God Says,” ranks beside other great musings on the Almighty such as Cursive’s “Happy Hollow” and XTC’s “Dear God.” He also described her sound as “sexy pop-rock” and accurately pointed out that her intention is to make smart rock that is “gutsy and meaningful.”
Smother magazine describes Liz Berg’s Coattails CD this way:
“Rebellious lyrics evoke a liberal mindset and this singer/songwriter isn’t holding anything back. Tackling such hot topics as religion, politics, racism, and drugs, Liz Berg doesn’t stray from anything controversial. Her music is straight-forward pop-rock with steady rhythms and catchy choruses. Liz boasts a strong singing voice and her powerful sophomore record is one that will get her name out in the industry.”–J-Sin
